UrSpace Resolve
Restorative Workplace Support
Helping people reconnect, communicate & work together again.
Workplace relationships can become strained for many reasons.
A disagreement may escalate, communication can break down, trust may be a;ected, or a formal grievance or workplace process may leave people uncertain about how to work together afterwards.
Resolving the formal issue does not always repair the relationship.
UrSpace Resolve
UrSpace Resolve is a structured, wellbeing-focused restorative process designed to help two or more people reconnect, better understand each other’s perspectives and develop practical ways of working together moving forward.
The focus is not on determining who was right or wrong. It is about creating a supported space where people can communicate constructively, feel heard and valued, and work towards rebuilding a functional and respectful workplace relationship.

When the process is over, the relationship may still need support
Formal workplace processes can be necessary, but they do not always address what happens next.
Employees may return to the same team after a grievance, complaint, disagreement or challenging workplace experience. Although the organisational process may have concluded,
there can still be discomfort, damaged trust, uncertainty or di;iculty communicating.
UrSpace Resolve provides a separate wellbeing and communication pathway to support that next stage.
It can help participants move away from repeatedly revisiting the conflict and towards questions such as:
-
How do we communicate from here?
-
What does each person need to feel respected and valued at work?
-
What has contributed to the breakdown in the relationship?
-
What can we each do differently?
-
What would a workable professional relationship look like?
-
How can we recognise di;iculties earlier before they escalate?
-
What practical agreements can help us work together as a team again?
How UrSpace Resolve works
The process begins with individual support before bringing participants together.
1. Individual conversations
Each participant initially meets individually with the UrSpace practitioner. These sessions provide a confidential and supported opportunity to discuss their experience, concerns, perspective and what they would like to see change.
The practitioner also considers whether a restorative process is likely to be appropriate and helpful for those involved.
2. Assessment and preparation
Following the individual sessions, the practitioner develops an approach tailored to the people
and circumstances involved. This includes identifying important communication themes, areas requiring additional care and practical goals for the restorative conversations.
If the practitioner believes that progressing to joint restorative conversations would not be appropriate, the organisation will be advised that the process should not proceed.
3. Restorative conversations
Where appropriate, participants then attend three 90-minute facilitated sessions, generally
held over three weeks. The practitioner supports participants to communicate constructively, better understand each other’s experience and identify practical changes that may support a healthier working relationship.
The process is future-focused.
Rather than repeatedly examining every aspect of what has happened, the conversations aim to
help participants understand what is important, acknowledge the impact of the situation and
establish clearer ways of communicating and working together.
4. Follow-up and reconnection
Approximately 30 days after the initial restorative sessions, participants attend a 90 minute follow-up session. This creates an opportunity to reflect on what has changed, discuss any challenges that have emerged and reinforce the strategies and agreements that are helping.
The aim is not simply to have one successful conversation. It is to support changes that can
continue in the workplace.
What does a successful outcome look like?
Success does not necessarily mean that everyone agrees about everything that happened. People do not need to become friends.
The goal is to help participants develop a relationship where they can communicate respectfully, understand each other more e;ectively and work together without previous difficulties continuing to dominate the workplace.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
-
improved communication
-
greater understanding of di;erent perspectives
-
clearer professional boundaries
-
reduced tension
-
increased confidence having di;icult conversations
-
practical communication agreements
-
earlier identification of potential issues
-
greater psychological safety within the working relationship
-
rebuilding professional trust
-
feeling heard, respected and valued
-
being able to function e;ectively as colleagues or as a team again

A wellbeing approach, not a formal mediation process
UrSpace Resolve is intentionally di;erent from formal workplace mediation. It is a restorative wellbeing and communication service.
Our role is not to investigate allegations, determine facts, make findings, provide legal or HR advice, decide who is right or wrong, or manage disciplinary processes.
Where a workplace grievance, investigation or other formal organisational process is required, this should be managed through the organisation’s appropriate HR, legal or workplace relations pathways.
UrSpace Resolve may be particularly valuable after those processes have concluded, when the people involved still need support to reconnect and establish how they will work together moving forward.
“We have dealt with the issue, but how do we help these people work together again?”
Supporting people,
not just resolving an issue
Workplace conflict can affect much more than productivity. It can impact confidence, belonging, stress levels, communication and whether someone feels valued within their workplace.
That is why UrSpace Resolve takes a wellbeing-focused approach.
The practitioner works with participants as people first, while still recognising the realities of the workplace environment.
The objective is to create a process that feels safe, respectful and practical while helping participants take shared responsibility for what happens next.
Additional individual support
Participating in UrSpace Resolve does not replace individual counselling or EAP support.
Where someone requires additional wellbeing support during or after the process, individual
EAP counselling can continue separately.
This allows the restorative process to remain focused on the working relationship while ensuring each participant can access confidential individual support if needed.
For HR, People & Culture and organisational leaders
When workplace relationships break down, organisations can find themselves asking:
“We have dealt with the issue, but how do we help these people work together again?”
UrSpace Resolve has been developed specifically for that space.
It provides organisations with an independent wellbeing-focused pathway that can complement existing HR and workplace processes without replacing them.
We work with HR professionals, People & Culture teams and organisational leaders to
determine whether UrSpace Resolve may be appropriate and to establish a clear pathway for participants.
Participant wellbeing, confidentiality and professional boundaries remain central throughout the process.
